Foundation Stage 2

Spring 1:

This half term, we have been learning about stories from other cultures. The children explored The Greedy Zebra, The Runaway Chapatti, Hana’s Hundreds of Hijabs and Mei’s Sweet Chinese New Year. They really enjoyed taking part in creative activities linked to these stories, including creating their own story maps and designing clothing decorated with beautiful patterns. The children also wrote some lovely sentences describing the characters from the stories.

In Maths, we have been learning about the numbers 6, 7, 8 and 9. The children have represented these numbers in different ways, identified one more and one less than a given number, and practised making numbers using the part–part–whole method. We have also followed the children’s interests in the construction area, using magnatiles to create a range of 2D flat shapes as well as 3D structures.

In RE, the children have been learning about the Feeding of the 5,000 and discussing ways we can help those who are less fortunate than us, such as donating food to a food bank.

We also had a visit from the Road Safety Team where we learnt about the green cross code, the importance of wearing a seat belt and how to walk safely to school.

Overall, it has been a lovely half term, and the children have shown fantastic enthusiasm, creativity and pride in their learning.
